«AND TOMORROW YOU WILL BE DEAD» will open the 17th Zurich Film Festival

23/09/2021

A film by The Walt Disney Company (Switzerland) and produced by Zodiac Pictures Ltd in co-production with MMC Zodiac, SRF and Blue, the world premiere is Thursday, September 23, 2021. It is an honor for Fresco Film to attend the premiere of this exceptional film and see our friends and fellow adventurers again.

We thank Zodiac Pictures Ltd and The Walt Disney Company (Switzerland) GmbH for choosing Fresco Film as a Service company for filming in Spain.  It was an exciting shoot and we thank the entire team for their exceptional work. We wish it all success.

“AND TOMORROW YOU WILL BE DEAD” will be screened in Swiss cinemas from October 28, 2021. The drama is about how Swiss couple DANIELA WIDMER (Morgane Ferru) and DAVID OCH (Sven Schelker) were kidnapped in 2011 while traveling through Pakistan and handed over to the Taliban. The two lived as hostages for eight months until they finally managed to escape. Director Michael Steiner tells the story, based on real events, from the perspective of the two hostages: «I am a storyteller and here I wanted to tell the personal tale of the two hostages Daniela Widmer and David Och,» says the director. «Often a story is only really revealed when it is presented to you in detail. With my film, I want viewers to understand the connections and perceive the circumstances of the two hostages with an open heart.»

“It is a great honor to be the first director to open the ZFF for the second time!» Says Michael Steiner, whose SENNENTUNTSCHI was the Opening Film in 2010 and whose latest film WOLKENBRUCH also celebrated its world premiere at the ZFF in 2018.  “Michael Steiner, like no other Swiss director, understands film d’auteur and has a great appeal to audiences” says artistic director Christian Jungen. “With his new film, his strongest to date, he demonstrates his international stature. The thriller reminds me of Kathryn Bigelow’s ZERO DARK THIRTY about the hunt for Osama bin Laden.»
