As CEO of Fresco Film and President of PROFILM, Peter Welter has called for renewed efforts to safeguard Spain’s competitiveness in the international audiovisual market during the presentation of PROFILM’s International Audiovisual Investment Report 2025.
The report highlights a 20% decline in direct investment from international productions in 2025, reflecting growing competition from other territories that are actively enhancing their incentives and production frameworks to attract major film and television projects.
While acknowledging these challenges, Welter emphasized that Spain continues to offer exceptional strengths, including highly skilled crews, diverse filming locations, world-class infrastructure and extensive production expertise developed over decades of international collaboration.
Under Peter Welter’s leadership at PROFILM, and through its ongoing work with leading studios and producers worldwide, Fresco Film remains firmly committed to supporting the sustainable growth of Spain’s audiovisual industry. The company continues to advocate for policies that encourage investment, foster job creation and reinforce Spain’s reputation as one of the world’s most attractive destinations for international productions.
“Spain has all the ingredients to remain a leading international production destination. The challenge now is ensuring that we remain competitive in an increasingly dynamic global market,” said Peter Welter.
As the current holder of the PROFILM presidency, Fresco Film will continue working alongside industry partners and public institutions to help secure the long-term success and international competitiveness of Spain’s audiovisual sector.
